Jacobsmeier is an Assistant Professor of Political Science at the University of New Orleans. His research focuses on the process of representation in American politics. Several of his current projects explore how social group identifications such as race and religious affiliation affect citizens’ perceptions of candidates’ ideologies. His research has appeared in State Politics and Policy Quarterly, and some of his recent work is scheduled to be published in PS: Political Science and Politics and Politics and Religion. He has presented a number of papers at major professional conferences and served as chair and discussant on several conference panels. Professor Jacobsmeier has taught courses in American politics, research methodology, and religion and politics. He received his graduate training at the University of Rochester.
