226 Milneburg Hall 504-280-1337 (Phone) Elizabeth A. Stein is an Assistant Professor of Political Science at the University of New Orleans. Dr. Stein’s research focuses on the media’s influence on political activists. Her research has examined this relationship in the context of the former dictatorships of Latin America, however, she also is interested in other regions struggling with new democracies or persistent authoritarian regimes. Her broader research interests include political communication, political behavior, public opinion, authoritarian governments and democratization. She has taught courses on comparative government, and media & mass action. She also plans to teach classes on Latin American politics, media & politics, and comparative political behavior. She received her Ph.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2008. Prior to coming to the University of New Orleans, Dr. Stein spent a semester-in-residence as a fellow at the Joan Shorenstein Center on the Press, Politics and Public Policy at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government in 2007. In 2004-2005, she had a Fulbright grant to conduct field research in both Brazil and Chile. |
